About us

Welcome to Pensans Nursery

Pensans Community Primary School came into being in September 2005 as a result of the amalgamation of Penzance (Lescudjack) Infant School and Penzance Junior School. The name Pensans is the traditional Cornish spelling of Penzance and was selected by the Governing Body to reflect the cultural heritage of the town.

Since January 2007 the children and staff have occupied a single building on the Madron Road site, following the completion of a £2.3m building extension programme, and the subsequent closure of the Lescudjack Infant School site.

The EYFS unit consists of an open plan area that accommodates two Reception classes, a Nursery room and a generous and exciting outside area with direct access to the school’s playing fields and woodland areas. In September 2017 the nursery is expanding to offer 2 year old provision and all day care.

The existing unit is being used with the addition of a new room and ‘free flow’ will be in operation during the morning sessions. In the afternoon the nursery rooms will be closed off to enable a quieter provision for two year olds.

We are open Term Time – dates can be found on our Events calendar on the Home page and we will open on the school inset days when provision is required. Our opening hours are 8am-6pm Monday-Friday. All sessions offered are open to any child regardless of the school they attend or plan to attend. We are an equal opportunities nursery and additional needs are fully catered for.

We aim to provide a safe, stimulating home from home that caters for the individual needs of children, parents and families. The majority of Pensans Nursery staff have been employed for many years providing consistency, stability and reliability.
